When I started my big workout effort earlier this year, I was spending at least an hour in the gym every day...This probably does not seem like much, but with my schedule, that got me home no earlier than 8 pm every day. Add a shower and dinner into that and it was already 10 before I was washing dishes, getting me to bed entirely too late. My workouts were good, but I really wasn't making the most out of my time there. My most productive days were actually my shorter days when I would do both cardio and strength. I started Self Magazine's 60 Days to Healthier Ways last week. It's like any other exercise and eating suggestion plan. Each day, unless it's cardio day, you get a 3 move weight circuit to do with 20-30 minutes of cardio. This is great for me because I don't have to scroll through Pinterest and use up my data plan and battery looking for a workout at the gym if I forget to find one earlier, and I know that I will be out of the gym in 45 minutes. With my out of whack schedule right now, this is a lifesaver; I don't have to rush through a workout since I know how long it will take me. The program also gives great food and snack ideas; some you make yourself and some that are healthy choices from restaurants. The workouts so far have been challenging and rewarding. Today was a pure cardio day, so I took an hour Spin class and then decided to run for 10 minutes. I've got a 5K this weekend and I haven't run in a while. I actually ran this without music and was able to run the whole time; I won't lie, it was pretty miserable, but I pushed myself through it.
