Last weekend, one of my best friends from highschool got married. She was the first of our highschool group of friends to get married, so Mazel Tov, Kirby and Mike! Of course I was beyond excited for this, I got to go to Houston and spend a weekend with some of my best friends who I don't get to see much. The wedding was simple and beautiful, totally Kirby's style and so wonderful. We all had an absolute blast tearing it up on the dance floor, and I do mean tearing it up. I'm pretty positive that after dinner, none of us sat down for more than 5 minutes.
After the wedding, we all went to Black Swan at the Omni (this is the place to go after weddings in Houston). So at the wedding, one of Mike's groomsmen was told that I was single and he thought that I was cute. We got pretty close at Black Swan (I was dubbed the makeout bandit)...and he wanted me to go to his hotel with him. I really am not that kind of girl, plus I would rather spend the night with my friends, catching up then make something out of a whatever makeout session on a lounge dance floor. Honestly, I wasn't looking for anything more than to make out with someone, I really wanted to make out. He's a good guy, but he does smoke A LOT when he drinks and now I can say from experience that making out with a smoker is definitely like licking an ash tray. He also still had some frattastic college blood in him and started howling (like a coyote) at the bar. I also find out that the girl who told him about me never told him my name..and he never asked, so he didn't know my name until we all left the bar...sorry if you see this, you're a great guy, but since you didn't even ask...at all, me writing this is totally fair..yes, I am a bitch. love me.
As far as my music tastes go, sometimes I think that I was born in the wrong era, but at this point, as long as there are ways for me to enjoy music from any era, I'm good. Last Tuesday, I did what some people would consider crazy (and without knowing the circumstances that allowed it, I would too). I took half of a day off of work, flew to Houston so that i could go to the Rodeo and go to the KISS concert that night. Reasons why this does not qualify as crazy: I used paid time off and the time off was approved, the tickets were free and we already had them whether they were going to be used or not, I earn enough money to afford to book the flights and not get myself into trouble, It was time that I also got to spend with my dad, stepmom, and one of my best friends, I had a free place (one of my homes) to stay, and I was able to get back to Dallas in time to not be late for work the next day. ALSO KISS was one of my bucket list concerts AND they were NOT coming to Dallas on this run, and who knows how long after this they will be able to hold up and tour. The show was great, and I had so much fun! Most of the fans there were around my dad and stepmom's ages, which only made the concert better. It was definitely worth being tired the next day. I'll have a recap posted of it soon, hopefully.
Over the weekend, I went to Shreveport with some work friends. Let me just try to explain how ecstatic I was when A asked me to join her and R and their friends for the weekend-seriously it was so flattering and i was SO excited...sure, I sound like a loser, but put yourself in the position where you don't have many friends where you life and even though your'e trying to make some, you end up spending weekends alone. To have someone ask you to hang out, or to have plans is seriously super happy and super exciting. So I drove after work and met them for some drinks. After that, we all went to the casinos. At the second on, we saw Jessica Biel and Gerard Butler. Hilariousness ensued. Their friend is a very tall and big man and decided to "hide" behind a pole after pretty much screaming in their direction "That's not them! That is not Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel". A and I scoped it out and she let out a really cute squeak when we passed them; their reaction pretty much proved that it was them. A ended up getting a picture with Gerard. I didn't end up getting in the picture, but that was a pretty neat celebrity sighting. Then, all I wanted was french fries (because when I drink, I looooooves my fries), so Whataburger it was, and damn, they hit the spot so good!
We spent Saturday at a lakehouse on Lake Cross.. Cross Lake? sitting outside, drinking "Swamp Juice" oh, frozen daquiri place, beer, and and just chilling. We had our own crawfish boil that night with pounds and pounds of crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, corn, onions, and potatoes. T did all the cooking and oh.my.goodness, I cannot even describe how amazing everything tasted. This was my first time eating crawfish like that; I wasn't sure that I would like it, and of course A "blessed it" because it was not kosher. It was so good, even with all the work you have to do to get that little piece of meat (yes, that IS what she said). I am also afraid of crawfish..even though they were dead at this point, they were still in crawfish exoskeleton form and had eyes and antennae, buuut since they tasted so good, I had to get over that issue real quickly. By the end of the night, I was bright red, pretty much the color of the crawfish from sitting in the sun...It's kind of ridiculous but pretty funny.
This morning we went to an old school souther cooking southern meal place called Strawns and hung out for a little bit before driving home. I had such a great time over the weekend and their friends were so nice too. I really hope that I get invited to more things with them.
Nothing new JDate wise or anything else besides Cigarette Lips from the wedding; all in all though, life is good, even though I am roasted, toasted, and burnt to a crisp.
